Born in New Zealand, but at age 2, my family relocated to Papua New Guinea. Growing up in New Guinea had its benefits and challenges. Spending the weekends and holidays on the family yacht cruising, fishing and diving the remote islands of New Guinea was certainly one of the benefits, which engrained the core skills that would help me in my future career.

Upon moving back to New Zealand in 1996, I took a course in marine studies and once finished, obtained a boat building apprenticeship at Tournament boats and charters. Little did I know, that the boat I was building would lead me on a 20 year adventure throughout the South Pacific.

Since the launch of Ultimate Lady in August 98', I worked my way up through the ranks; from deck hand to gaining my Captains and engineers’ license. In 2001, I was offered the position of Captain.

I have operated the Ultimate Lady throughout the South Pacific. Cruising the East coast of Australia to Lizard Island, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour, Vanuatu, Fiji, New Caledonia, Tonga, Samoa, New Zealand, Norfolk Island. The last 10 years have been spent extensively exploring remote French Polynesia. Throughout The Marquises, Societies, Australes, Gambier, Tuamotus and Rapa in the very south. With a growing family in Tahiti, I now call French Polynesia home.

I started working on super yacht in 2012 after my first ticket. I passed my 500UMS captain ticket which is in validation and I am looking for time at sea to validate. Originally from Bora Bora, Hina finds herself at ease surrounded by the ocean onboard a yacht. She enjoys the challenges of her role and works diligently to get the job done, unsupervised or with a team. She is very easy to hold company with and does an excellent job serving our many guests.
